ABOUT THE JOB
Expect a role split between the service bay and the sales counter. On the technical side, the installer handles the complete change of a member’s tires, from lifting the car safely to the final inspection signed off by a lead. On the customer side, the same person explains options using Costco’s five-step selling approach, prepares quotes and invoices, and keeps special orders organized. Some warehouses add oil changes or propane refills, which call for separate certification.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect each car on arrival, record any existing body damage and bring it safely into the service bay.
- Change, mount and repair tires to tire-industry standards, including the sensor reset that many recent vehicles need.
- Have a lead or manager complete the final safety inspection before a car leaves, then return the keys and paperwork at the desk.
- Explain tire choices to members, quote prices in person, by phone or by email, and schedule installations for special orders.
- Prepare invoices, take payment at the register and work out refunds on tire and battery warranties.
- Coordinate special orders with the Tire Centre manager, buyers, the receiving team and inventory auditors.
- Keep tires tagged and shelved according to the merchandising plan, and leave the bay and showroom clean.
WHAT THE POSTING ASKS FOR
- French, spoken and written (a condition for all Quebec postings).
- A valid driver’s licence; candidates must also pass Costco’s own tire certification test.
- At warehouses that sell propane: the provincial PP0-3 certificate plus TDG training.
- Preference for people who have installed or sold tires before; a high school diploma or GED is preferred.
