Strategic Sourcing Manager – Logistics & Transportation – Sobeys, Mississauga, ON

Sobeys is looking for a Strategic Sourcing Manager – Logistics & Transportation to join its corporate team in Mississauga, ON. This role is ideal for an experienced supply chain or procurement professional who enjoys building sourcing strategies, negotiating with carriers and driving cost and service improvements across transportation networks.

ABOUT THE JOB

The Strategic Sourcing Manager – Logistics & Transportation is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for transportation and logistics services across Sobeys’ network. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, you will lead competitive events, negotiate contracts, manage carrier relationships and ensure that service, cost and sustainability objectives are met.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement category strategies for logistics and transportation (e.g., outbound, inbound, intermodal, last mile, dedicated fleets).
  • Lead RFx processes (RFI/RFP/RFQ) including data analysis, bid design, evaluation and supplier selection.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, service level agreements and contracts with carriers and logistics providers.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Transportation Operations, Finance and other cross-functional partners to understand business requirements and translate them into sourcing plans.
  • Analyze freight spend, carrier performance and market trends to identify cost reduction and value creation opportunities.
  • Support network optimization initiatives, mode shifts and continuous improvement projects.
  • Manage supplier relationships, including performance reviews, scorecards and joint business planning.
  • Ensure that logistics partners comply with safety, regulatory, ESG and corporate policies.
  • Prepare business cases and recommendations for senior leadership, supported by robust analytics.
  • Mitigate risk through diversification of suppliers, contingency planning and proactive contract management.
  • Champion Sobeys’ values and contribute to a collaborative, results-oriented team culture.
