Safeway is seeking a flexible and patient-focused Relief Pharmacist to support its pharmacies across Edmonton and nearby communities in Alberta. ABOUT THE JOB
As a Relief Pharmacist at Safeway, you will work scheduled shifts across multiple Safeway, Sobeys and FreshCo pharmacies in the Edmonton area. You will provide clinical services, verify prescriptions, counsel patients and support local pharmacy teams while ensuring a consistent, high-quality experience at every store you visit.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cover scheduled relief shifts across Edmonton and surrounding communities, adapting quickly to each pharmacy team and workflow.
- Deliver patient-centred care including medication reviews, adherence support and health risk assessments.
- Administer injections and vaccines as permitted by Alberta regulations.
- Provide clear and compassionate counseling to patients and caregivers on new and existing therapies.
- Initiate care plans, follow up on outcomes and complete accurate clinical documentation.
- Ensure prescription safety by verifying and releasing prescriptions according to standards and legislation.
- Collaborate with Pharmacy Registered Technicians and Assistants to optimize workflow and patient safety.
- Support the execution of pharmacy programs that help patients manage their health needs.
- Maintain current knowledge of pharmacy practice, regulatory requirements and industry trends.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, including OHS, Loss Prevention and quality programs.
