ABOUT THE JOB
As a Registered Pharmacy Technician at Costco, you will support pharmacists by assisting with prescription processing, packaging, labelling, and workflow management in accordance with provincial regulations and pharmacy standards. You will help patients at the counter, process transactions, manage inventory and third-party billing tasks, and maintain accurate records while ensuring patient confidentiality and consistent pharmacy operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist patients at the counter by receiving prescriptions, retrieving filled prescriptions, and providing courteous service.
- Process register transactions accurately, including cash, cheque, credit, and debit payments.
- Maintain patient medical histories and support confidential record keeping within the pharmacy system.
- Support patient profile and prescription data entry as permitted by provincial regulations and policies.
- Fill prescriptions by retrieving stock bottles, counting medications, packaging, and labelling according to pharmacy standards.
- Complete prescription packaging verification within permitted scope after therapeutic review by the pharmacist.
- Count, label (including auxiliary labels), and package prescriptions while managing workflow and bin systems.
- Identify and flag potential interactions or prescription concerns to the pharmacist when required.
- Verify prescriptions and refills with prescribers by phone as needed and accept verbal prescriptions where permitted.
- Prepare third-party insurance claims, process invoices, and complete accounting entries using computerized systems.
- Order, receive, and stock prescription drugs, supplies, and OTC merchandise while following product storage standards.
- Support department merchandising and OTC roaming/stocking duties as assigned; create product signage when required.
- Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy area, following safety and security procedures at all times.
- Assist in other areas of the warehouse as needed.
