Costco is hiring a Pharmacy Student to support pharmacy operations at its warehouse in Kitchener, Ontario. This role provides hands-on experience in a community pharmacy setting under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
ABOUT THE JOB
The Pharmacy Student assists with prescription processing, patient support, medication review programs, and pharmacy operations while gaining practical experience in accordance with provincial regulations and Costco pharmacy standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answers and routes member phone calls and directs members to the appropriate product location.
- Collects patient information and accurately inputs prescriptions into the pharmacy software system.
- Fills prescriptions by retrieving stock bottles, counting medications, labeling, and pricing under pharmacist supervision.
- Alerts the pharmacist of potential drug interactions or patient concerns.
- Complies with provincial regulations and maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
- Assists patients at the counter, retrieves prescriptions, and processes register transactions.
- Provides courteous and professional patient service.
- Communicates with patients regarding OTC products and refers clinical questions to the pharmacist.
- Supports prescription counseling under supervision, depending on competence and regulations.
- Identifies patients eligible for medication review programs and assists the pharmacist in delivering services.
- Helps maintain pharmacy stock, supplies, and OTC merchandise.
- Supports Costco Pharmacy Health Promotion Clinics.
- Keeps the pharmacy clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
