Costco is hiring a Pharmacy Student in Burnaby, BC. This role supports the pharmacist with prescription order entry, packaging/compounding support, member service, and pharmacy operations while working under the constant supervision of a pharmacist.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Pharmacy Student at Costco, you will help with prescription processing and member support, including collecting patient information, entering prescriptions into the pharmacy system, assisting at the counter, and helping keep the pharmacy clean and organized. You may also support medication review initiatives and Health Promotion Clinics, depending on your competency level and provincial regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answer and triage member phone calls and direct members to the appropriate product location.
- Collect appropriate patient information and accurately input prescriptions into the pharmacy software system under pharmacist supervision.
- Fill prescriptions by retrieving stock bottles, counting medications, and labeling under the pharmacist’s supervision; follow safety and security procedures.
- Alert the pharmacist when necessary (e.g., potential drug interactions or patient concerns).
- Comply with provincial regulations regarding the pharmacy student role and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Follow Costco Pharmacy policies and procedures.
- Assist patients at the counter, retrieve prescriptions, and process register transactions as per provided procedures.
- Provide prompt and courteous patient service.
- Communicate with patients regarding OTC products and answer questions under pharmacist supervision; know when to refer to the pharmacist.
- Depending on competency level and provincial regulation, provide prescription counseling education under pharmacist direction and supervision.
- Identify and recruit eligible patients for the medication review program and assist the pharmacist in performing medication review services.
- Help pharmacy staff stock drugs, supplies, and OTC merchandise.
- Work with the pharmacist to develop and implement plans to recruit and run Costco Pharmacy Health Promotion clinics.
- Work with pharmacy staff to keep the pharmacy clean and well organized.
- Assist in other areas as necessary under the direction of the pharmacist.
- Assist in other areas of the warehouse as necessary.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be enrolled in an approved pharmacy program.
- Must be registered with the respective College as a pharmacy student.
- Community pharmacy experience and proficiency with the Kroll pharmacy software system is preferred.
- Excellent communication and member service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work well in a team.
PAY
- $22.00 per hour (hourly, as listed).
