Costco is hiring a motivated Pharmacy Student to join its pharmacy team in Brampton, ON. This role is ideal for students enrolled in an approved pharmacy program who want hands-on experience supporting prescription processing, patient service and pharmacy operations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Pharmacy Student at Costco, you will assist with prescription entry, labeling and distribution tasks while following strict safety, privacy and provincial regulatory requirements. You will support member interactions at the counter and by phone, help maintain inventory and contribute to pharmacy services such as medication reviews and health promotion clinics where appropriate and within your competency level.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answer and triage member phone calls and direct members to the appropriate pharmacy or product location.
- Collect patient information and enter prescriptions accurately into the pharmacy system under pharmacist supervision.
- Support prescription filling by retrieving stock bottles, counting medications and preparing labels under supervision.
- Follow all safety and security procedures while handling medications, patient information and pharmacy supplies.
- Alert the pharmacist to concerns such as possible drug interactions, allergies or patient issues that require review.
- Comply with provincial regulations regarding the role of a pharmacy student and maintain strict patient confidentiality.
- Follow Costco Pharmacy policies, workflows and documentation standards.
- Assist patients at the counter, help retrieve prescriptions and process register transactions as required.
- Provide courteous patient service and support smooth pharmacy operations during busy periods.
- Communicate with patients about over-the-counter products and answer basic questions under the supervision of the pharmacist.
- Provide prescription counselling and education only when permitted by regulation and under the direction of the pharmacist.
- Help identify and recruit eligible patients for medication review programs and assist the pharmacist with follow-up services.
- Support stocking and organization of prescription drugs, supplies and over-the-counter merchandise.
- Assist with planning and running health promotion clinics as directed by the pharmacist.
- Help keep the pharmacy clean, organized and well maintained.
- Assist in other areas as needed under the direction of the pharmacist.
