ABOUT THE JOB
As a Pharmacy Clerk at Costco, you will assist the pharmacist with prescription processing, customer service at the counter and inventory support. You will help update patient and prescription records, prepare insurance claims and invoices, receive payments and maintain a clean and organized pharmacy area while following all provincial regulations and confidentiality standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist patients at the pharmacy counter by receiving written prescriptions and helping retrieve filled prescriptions.
- Process register transactions, receive payments, make change and handle cheques, credit and debit transactions accurately.
- Provide courteous patient service, answer basic questions and direct members to the appropriate product location.
- Support the pharmacist by updating patient profiles and entering prescription information into the pharmacy computer system (within permitted scope).
- Help fill prescriptions under pharmacist supervision by retrieving stock bottles, counting, pouring, labeling and pricing medications as permitted by regulations.
- Preserve patient confidentiality and follow all privacy and security requirements.
- Prepare third-party insurance claims, process invoices and enter accounting information using the computerized system.
- Order, receive and stock prescription drugs and supplies while following product storage procedures and standards.
- Order, receive and stock over-the-counter items in line with department merchandising plans; create basic product signs and tags when required.
- Maintain pharmacy cleanliness by sweeping, mopping, spraying, wiping and dusting; empty trash as needed.
- Operate the trash compactor and cardboard baler safely when required and permitted.
- Assist other warehouse areas as needed.
