ABOUT THE JOB
As an Optical Student at Costco, you will help members select eyeglass frames and lens options, process orders and payments, and assist with fitting and adjusting eyewear after pickup. You’ll support merchandising and inventory tasks, keep the department organized, and follow provincial guidelines and Costco procedures while working under the supervision of a licensed optical professional.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist members in selecting eyeglass frames and lens options, ensuring a helpful and welcoming experience.
- Provide prompt and courteous member service and respond to basic questions about products and orders.
- Ring up eyewear orders and over-the-counter merchandise; accept payments and process transactions accurately.
- Handle paperwork and documentation related to orders in line with department procedures.
- Work under provincial guidelines and under the supervision of a licensed optical professional.
- Fit and adjust eyeglasses using a frame warmer and basic adjustment techniques, as permitted.
- Order equipment, merchandise, and supplies using computer systems and follow safety/security procedures.
- Stock and organize merchandise and supplies; support merchandising standards and product storage.
- Maintain a clean department by wiping, spraying, and mopping as needed.
- Empty trash and operate department equipment such as compactors/balers where assigned and trained.
- Support record-keeping, production routines, and general department organization.
- Assist in other areas of the warehouse as needed.
