Costco is hiring an Optical Student to support its Optical Department in Burnaby, BC. This is a great opportunity for someone building a career in optical services who enjoys helping members choose frames, supporting orders and keeping the department organized in a busy retail environment.
ABOUT THE JOB
As an Optical Student at Costco, you will assist members with eyewear selections, process and ring up orders and help with fitting eyeglasses when members pick up their orders (where permitted by provincial regulations and under appropriate supervision). You’ll also help maintain merchandise and supplies and keep the department clean and ready for members.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist members in selecting eyeglass frames and lens options while providing prompt, courteous service.
- Ring up optical orders and over-the-counter optical merchandise, processing payments and completing paperwork accurately.
- Receive payments, make change and process cheques, credit and debit transactions according to procedures.
- Where permitted by provincial law and under the supervision of a licensed optician, fit and adjust eyeglasses using a frame warmer and by hand.
- Order equipment, merchandise and supplies by entering information into the computer system.
- Follow all safety and security procedures while handling merchandise and member orders.
- Stock and organize optical merchandise and supplies and support department record-keeping.
- Maintain department standards for production, merchandising and product storage.
- Clean the department (spraying, wiping and mopping as needed) and support general upkeep.
- Empty trash and operate trash compactor/cardboard baler when required.
- Assist in other areas of the warehouse as necessary.
