ABOUT THE JOB

As a Meat Assistant at Costco, you will support daily operations in the meat department by wrapping and labeling products, stocking display cases, and assisting with equipment and sanitation tasks. You’ll help maintain product rotation, follow production and safety procedures, and provide friendly member service while keeping the work area clean and compliant with health code standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect and reassemble equipment that was sanitized previously and prepare the department for daily production.
  • Rework and restock the display case and rotate product to maintain freshness and presentation.
  • Take large trays of meat from racks and place individual packages into an automatic wrapping machine.
  • Follow safety and security procedures while operating department equipment and handling product.
  • Set labels based on product type and price; print and apply labels accurately.
  • Place wrapped and labeled meat into display cases, using approved methods to stock and reach safely.
  • Operate the meat grinder as assigned; follow department procedures for quality and consistency.
  • Monitor grinding batches and check fat content according to department standards.
  • Clean and sanitize the area throughout the day to comply with health code and sanitation standards.
  • Maintain proper temperatures and follow safe handling practices for raw meat products.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks for machinery, equipment, and implements as required.
  • Provide prompt, courteous member service and help direct members to products and services.
  • Assist in other areas of the warehouse as required.
