ABOUT THE JOB
As a Meat Assistant at Costco, you will support day-to-day meat department operations by wrapping and labeling products, stocking display cases, and helping maintain sanitation and quality standards. You may operate equipment such as an automatic wrapping machine and a meat grinder, rotate product, and keep work areas clean while providing courteous member service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Wrap and label meat products using an automatic wrapping machine and apply labels based on product type and price.
- Inspect and reassemble department equipment and sanitize work areas to prepare for daily production.
- Break down and reload display cases and rotate product to maintain freshness and presentation.
- Move trays of meat from racks and prepare individual packages for wrapping and labeling.
- Place wrapped and labeled products on carts and stock meat displays, reaching through display windows as needed.
- Operate a meat grinder by loading product, monitoring batches, and checking grind quality following procedures.
- Follow department standards for quality and consistency of finished products.
- Clean and sanitize work areas throughout the day and comply with health code and food safety requirements.
- Maintain proper product temperatures and support safe handling practices.
- Perform routine care of machinery, equipment, and tools used in the department.
- Provide prompt and courteous member service and support other tasks as needed.
- Assist in other areas of the warehouse as required.
