Costco is hiring a detail-oriented Meat Assistant to support the Meat Department in Burnaby, BC. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys hands-on work, packaging and labeling products and keeping the department clean, organized and ready for members throughout the day.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Meat Assistant at Costco, you will help wrap and label meat products using wrapping equipment, stock and rotate display cases and support production by operating equipment such as the meat grinder. You’ll follow department standards for sanitation, safety and product quality while delivering prompt and courteous member service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect and reassemble equipment that was sanitized the previous night and prepare the area for daily production.
- Rework the display case and rotate product to maintain freshness and presentation standards.
- Take trays of packaged meat from carts/racks and load individual packages into the automatic wrapping machine.
- Follow all safety and security procedures when operating equipment and handling product.
- Set labelers according to product type and price; print and apply labels accurately to packages.
- Place wrapped and labeled meat onto large trays/carts and stock the display case (including reaching through sliding windows or moving racks as required).
- Operate the meat grinder by loading product and monitoring batch output to ensure proper consistency and quality.
- Follow proper department production procedures and standards for finished product quality.
- Clean and sanitize the department throughout the day to meet health code and sanitation requirements.
- Maintain proper temperatures and safe handling practices for all meat products.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks for machinery, equipment and tools as assigned.
- Provide prompt and courteous member service and assist with other warehouse tasks as needed.
