ABOUT THE JOB
As a Maintenance Assistant at Costco, you will support daily janitorial services and general upkeep across facility areas to help meet company standards and protect employees and equipment. You’ll clean floors and common areas, empty trash, operate trash and cardboard compactors, respond to spills, and assist with light grounds and building maintenance tasks. This position also involves following safety and security procedures and restocking cleaning supplies as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review the daily schedule and complete routine cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Clean floors in offices, break rooms, restrooms, production areas, and other facility areas.
- Use floor equipment as required (e.g., scrubbers) to maintain cleanliness standards.
- Empty trash from designated areas and transport waste to appropriate disposal points.
- Operate trash and cardboard compactors or balers where assigned and trained.
- Follow location procedures and performance standards while maintaining safety and security.
- Respond quickly to spills and help reduce slip/trip hazards.
- Clean light fixtures regularly and replace light bulbs as needed.
- Wash windows and clean upper walls and ceilings where required; vacuum rafters periodically.
- Support grounds maintenance such as litter pickup and basic outdoor upkeep; assist with seasonal tasks when required.
- Assist with simple repair tasks and minor touch-ups as assigned.
- Monitor cleaning supplies and restock as needed; receive and place merchandise/supplies in the proper department.
- Follow all general safety and security procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Provide prompt, courteous service to members, employees, and suppliers when needed.
- Support basic inventory-related tasks and internal purchasing processes when assigned.
- Assist in other areas of the warehouse as required.
