Costco is hiring a vigilant and professional Loss Prevention Clerk to help protect warehouse assets and support a safe shopping environment in Burnaby, BC. ABOUT THE JOB
As a Loss Prevention Clerk at Costco, you will monitor the warehouse and perimeter, identify potential safety and security concerns and support investigations related to internal and external theft. You may detain and interview individuals when required, prepare reports and coordinate with local law enforcement when necessary. This position reports directly to the Warehouse Manager and follows Costco procedures and applicable laws.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Walk the warehouse and perimeter (up to 8 hours per day) to monitor safety and security conditions.
- Observe, detect, prevent and respond to suspected shoplifting and other loss prevention incidents within the warehouse.
- Detain and interview shoplifters when warranted, following company policy and applicable legal requirements.
- Identify and report potential internal dishonesty; coordinate reporting to the Warehouse Manager and Regional Loss Prevention Manager for investigation approval.
- Report potential internal theft situations to warehouse management in a timely, accurate manner.
- Detect and document possible shrink reduction opportunities and communicate findings to management.
- Prepare incident reports for internal use and for potential prosecution when required.
- Maintain and organize evidence collected and report files from investigations.
- Testify in court regarding theft investigations when necessary.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Costco procedures and applicable laws; attend meetings and seminars related to loss prevention.
- Teach and coach loss prevention topics, policies and procedures to other warehouse team members.
- Communicate with other Costco Loss Prevention Clerks and relevant teams to exchange information about current and local theft threats.
- Assist in other areas of the warehouse as needed.
