Costco is hiring a fast-paced and service-driven Food Service Assistant to join the Food Court team in Burnaby, BC. This role is great for someone who enjoys preparing food, working on a busy counter and keeping the kitchen and dining area clean and organized while delivering excellent service to members.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Food Service Assistant at Costco, you will help prepare and serve food and beverages, support food court production and handle cash transactions following department procedures. You’ll stock ingredients and supplies, keep equipment and work areas sanitized and help maintain the eating area so members have a clean and enjoyable experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare hot food items, including rolling/shaping products, adding toppings or fillings and baking items such as pizzas.
- Slice pizza, place baked items in warmers and steam hot dogs and buns; operate deep fryers as required.
- Ring up sales, collect money and make change following cash handling and department procedures.
- Take and organize pizza orders from members at the counter and by phone, and assemble orders for pick-up.
- Use tongs and approved tools to handle food items safely and maintain food quality.
- Dispense desserts and drinks (e.g., frozen yogurt, lattes, smoothies), and clean/sanitize/refill dispensing machines.
- Maintain self-serve pop area, condiment stations and dining area; bus tables, sweep/mop floors and empty trash.
- Clean and sanitize machines, work surfaces, floors, pans, utensils and counters throughout the shift.
- Take garbage to the trash compactor and operate compactor equipment safely when required.
- Pull ingredients and supplies from the warehouse; stock high-volume items on shelves, in coolers and freezers.
- Stage ingredients for production and refill dispensing machines as needed.
- Comply with health code requirements including sanitation, temperature controls, product rotation and expiration dates.
- Provide prompt, courteous member service and assist other warehouse areas as needed.
