ABOUT THE JOB
The Cashier Assistant helps ensure efficient checkout operations by supporting cashiers, handling merchandise, and maintaining a clean and organized front-end area while providing a high level of member service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greets members and helps load orders onto the conveyor belt.
- Determines member packing preferences and answers questions.
- Packs member orders into boxes or bags and provides prompt, courteous service.
- Places member orders in boxes and transfers items to a separate cart for cashiers.
- Checks packaging for tampering and follows safety procedures.
- Runs items for departments such as merchandise, boxes, and register supplies.
- Returns items not sold to the appropriate areas.
- Transfers items not on belt to a separate cart for labeled or cashier scan items.
- Maintains cleanliness of register areas and general front-end zones.
- Retrieves carts and flatbeds from parking areas using a rope with clipping hook.
- Performs floor duties such as returning products, collecting paperwork, stocking registers, and clearing trash.
- Operates mechanical trash compactor and cardboard baler.
- Supports the cashier during promotions and peak times.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- No previous experience required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong customer service and teamwork skills.
