ABOUT THE JOB
As a Cashier Assistant at Costco, you will support the cashier by packing member orders, transferring items, and keeping the register area clean and organized. You’ll help move lines efficiently by running for supplies, assisting members with loading items, retrieving carts, and supporting promotional activity. This role also includes general front-end tasks such as maintaining safety in the area and helping with returns or restocking as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet members, assist with loading orders onto the conveyor belt, and help determine packing preferences.
- Pack member purchases into boxes and transfer items to a separate cart or flatbed for checkout.
- Check packed items to help prevent damage or tampering and follow all safety and security procedures.
- Assist members with loading purchases into vehicles when needed.
- Run for merchandise, boxes, register supplies, and item numbers to keep checkout moving smoothly.
- Transfer items not on the belt to a separate cart/flatbed as the cashier scans items.
- Follow front-end procedures and performance standards to support efficient operations.
- Maintain cleanliness around registers and the general front-end area; clean spills and remove trip hazards promptly.
- Retrieve carts and flatbeds from the parking area using approved methods and keep cart areas tidy.
- Support front-end tasks such as set-up/closing duties, stocking register areas, and assisting with returns paperwork where assigned.
- Operate trash/cardboard compactors or balers where assigned and trained.
- Support cashiers during promotions and help direct members as needed.
- Assist in other areas of the warehouse as required.
