ABOUT THE JOB
As a Cashier Assistant at Costco, you will assist cashiers by packing member orders, transferring items to carts and supporting a smooth checkout experience. You’ll help members load purchases, retrieve carts from the parking lot, maintain cleanliness at the registers and run items or supplies as needed to keep the front end operating efficiently.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet members and help load items onto the conveyor belt while providing prompt, courteous service.
- Pack member orders into boxes and transfer purchases to a separate cart or flatbed for the cashier.
- Check packaging for tampering and follow all safety and security procedures.
- Assist members with loading orders into their vehicle when appropriate.
- Run items and supplies (merchandise, boxes, register supplies and item numbers) as requested to keep checkout lines moving.
- Transfer items off the belt to the cart/flatbed as the cashier scans, following department procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness in the register area and general front-end space; clean spills and trip hazards immediately.
- Retrieve carts and flatbeds from the parking area using approved methods (including ropes/clasping hooks), keeping the lot organized and safe.
- Keep lot areas free of debris and sweep in front of the building when needed.
- Support front-end set up and closing tasks such as returning products, collecting paperwork, stocking registers and cleaning the area.
- Operate the trash compactor and cardboard baler safely when required.
- Support cashiers during promotions and high-volume periods.
- Assist other warehouse departments as needed.
