ABOUT THE JOB
As a Cake Decorator at Costco, you will prepare, decorate, and finish cakes and other bakery items according to established formulas and department production procedures. You’ll handle cake assembly, piping, writing messages, and adding garnishes while keeping displays stocked and maintaining cleanliness, safety, and food handling standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Decorate and finish cakes using piping bags and tips, including writing messages when needed.
- Slice and prepare cake layers using knives or slicing equipment, and package items properly for handling.
- Apply icing, fillings, glazes, and garnishes while following Costco bakery standards and procedures.
- Assemble cakes and bakery products (including pre-cut cake boards/boxes) and prepare items for sale.
- Prepare frosting and decorating components and keep production moving during high-volume periods.
- Maintain consistent product appearance, portioning, and quality across all decorated items.
- Stock and rotate cake and bakery displays as required, monitoring dates and freshness.
- Keep the decorating and work areas clean, organized, and compliant with food safety rules.
- Follow all safety procedures when using tools, equipment, and cleaning products.
- Assist with other bakery or warehouse duties as needed.
