Costco is searching for a creative and detail-oriented Cake Decorator to join its bakery team in Brampton, ON. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy decorating cakes, working with pastries and frosting, and helping produce high-quality bakery items for members.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Cake Decorator, you will slice, frost and decorate cakes according to Costco formulas, member requests and production standards. You will prepare cakes for display, assemble boxes, maintain a clean decorating area and assist with other bakery tasks when needed. Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity are essential for this role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Slice half-sheet cakes using a knife or slicer and place them on cardboard pads for decorating.
- Apply fillings, frostings and layers using spatulas and pastry bags; garnish cakes following Costco bakery procedures.
- Squeeze and twist frosting-filled pastry bags with various tips to create borders, figures and writing according to formulas.
- Interpret member orders to determine themes, colours, flavours and personalized writing for cakes.
- Contact members for clarification when order instructions are unclear.
- Remove cheesecakes from pans, place on cake pads and apply toppings or garnishes per Costco standards.
- Use the whipping cream machine and slice fresh fruit for decorated cakes.
- Assemble pre-cut cardboard cake boxes, place cakes inside and transfer racks to cooler, freezer or wrapping areas.
- Maintain a clean decorating area, removing debris and following all sanitation and safety procedures.
- Assist with additional bakery duties and support other warehouse departments when required.
- Provide prompt and courteous service when interacting with members.
