Safeway is hiring a Baker (On-the-Job Training) for its Downtown Calgary store in Calgary, AB. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with fresh baked goods, wants to learn bakery production skills and likes contributing to a busy, customer-focused grocery environment.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Baker (On-the-Job Training) at Safeway, you will work alongside experienced bakery team members to learn how to produce high-quality breads, pastries and other baked products. You will help with daily production, merchandising and customer service while following company standards for food safety, quality and presentation. This role is Part-Time and may include early morning, evening and weekend shifts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with preparing, mixing and baking a variety of breads, rolls, desserts and other bakery products according to Safeway recipes and standards.
- Portion, proof, decorate and finish baked goods to create appealing displays for customers.
- Stock and rotate bakery cases and shelves, ensuring products are fresh, properly labeled and attractively presented.
- Provide friendly, helpful service to customers, answering questions and offering suggestions about bakery products.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation and occupational health and safety policies, including safe use of ovens, mixers and other equipment.
- Assist with receiving, checking and storing bakery deliveries and ingredients.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including equipment, tools, counters and storage areas.
- Work collaboratively with the bakery and store team to meet production targets and support overall store operations.
