Costco is hiring an experienced Baker to join its bakery team in Burnaby, BC. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys high-volume production, works well with commercial bakery equipment and takes pride in delivering consistent, high-quality baked goods for members.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Baker at Costco, you will prepare and bake bakery products according to Costco formulas and production standards. You’ll measure and mix large batches, operate commercial mixers and bakery equipment, monitor ovens and ensure finished products meet quality, freshness and food safety requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Measure, assemble and combine large quantities of ingredients according to Costco formulas and production requirements.
- Use a calculator to adjust recipes for alternate yield and production needs.
- Operate commercial bakery equipment such as dough rollers, muffin depositors and crust machines.
- Use a power mixer to prepare batter, frosting and fillings for baked goods.
- Roll, cut and shape dough for breads and pastries and transfer raw product to proofing/raising rooms.
- Bake products in large ovens, monitor bake times and remove finished goods to cooling racks at the appropriate time.
- Feed dough into automated dough equipment where applicable and follow safe operating procedures.
- Monitor sanitation standards, temperatures, pull dates and overall product freshness in compliance with health code.
- Follow Costco bakery procedures and standards to maintain quality and consistency of finished product.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all safety and security procedures.
- Provide prompt and courteous member service when interacting with members.
- Assist with other bakery duties as needed and support other warehouse areas when required.
