Costco is hiring a Food Service Assistant for its Food Court in Burnaby, BC. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys working with food, serving members quickly, and keeping a clean and organized kitchen and dining area.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Food Service Assistant (Food Court) at Costco, you will help prepare and serve food and beverages, support daily cooking and warming tasks, stock supplies and ingredients, operate basic food service equipment, and maintain sanitation standards across the kitchen and eating areas. You’ll also assist members at the counter, handle simple transactions, and help keep service running efficiently during busy periods.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and portion food items by rolling, shaping, and adding toppings or fillings as required.
- Bake and warm items (such as pizzas) and slice products for service.
- Steam hot dogs and buns and operate equipment such as deep fryers where assigned.
- Ring up sales, collect payment, make change, and place food orders from members at the counter or by phone.
- Assemble and present orders to members, using safe food handling practices.
- Dispense desserts and beverages (including fountain and blended drinks) and keep dispensing machines clean and stocked.
- Maintain the self-serve area (condiments, pop station, and dining space), including bussing, sanitizing tables, sweeping/mopping floors, and emptying trash.
- Clean and sanitize machines, work surfaces, utensils, pans, counters, and floors throughout the shift.
- Take garbage to the compactor area and operate related equipment where assigned and trained.
- Pull ingredients and supplies from the warehouse, stock shelves/coolers/freezers, and stage items for production.
- Follow health code practices, including sanitation routines, temperature awareness, product rotation, and date checks.
- Provide prompt and courteous member service and assist in other warehouse areas as needed.
