ABOUT THE JOB
As a Cashier Assistant at Costco, you will support cashiers by packing member purchases, moving items efficiently through the front-end process, and helping maintain an organized and safe register area. You’ll also assist with tasks like retrieving carts, restocking supplies, keeping lines moving, and providing friendly, high-level member service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet members, assist with loading orders onto the conveyor belt, and respond to questions in a courteous manner.
- Pack member purchases into boxes, arrange items safely, and help load orders into carts when needed.
- Check packaging for security/tampering concerns and follow front-end safety and security procedures.
- Run front-end errands (merchandise, boxes, register supplies, and item numbers) to help keep lanes moving.
- Transfer items from the belt to a separate cart or flatbed to support cashier workflow.
- Maintain cleanliness of the register area and front end; clean spills and remove trip hazards immediately.
- Retrieve carts and flatbeds from the parking area, keeping the entrance and cart zones organized.
- Perform related front-end duties such as opening/closing tasks, returning products, and collecting paperwork.
- Support promotions and help direct members as needed during busy periods.
- Operate equipment used in the area (such as compactors/balers) where assigned and trained.
- Assist in other areas of the warehouse as needed.
