Costco is hiring an enthusiastic Optical Student to support its Optical department in Brampton, ON. ABOUT THE JOB
As an Optical Student at Costco, you will assist members with selecting eyeglass frames and lens options, process orders and help maintain a clean, organized optical area. Under the supervision of a licensed Optician (and where permitted by provincial regulations), you may help fit and adjust eyewear using approved tools and techniques.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist members in choosing eyeglass frames and lens options while providing prompt, courteous service.
- Ring up optical orders and over-the-counter merchandise, process payments and handle basic cash procedures.
- Complete paperwork accurately and follow department cash handling and security guidelines.
- Where permitted by provincial law and under licensed supervision, fit and adjust eyeglasses using a frame warmer and hand adjustments.
- Receive and organize optical inventory, merchandise and supplies using the computer system.
- Follow safety and security procedures when handling products, tools and member information.
- Stock merchandise and supplies and support department procedures for record keeping and product storage.
- Maintain cleanliness of the optical department by wiping surfaces, mopping as needed and emptying trash.
- Operate the trash compactor or cardboard baler when required and permitted.
- Assist other warehouse areas as needed.
