Costco is looking for a friendly and efficient Cashier Assistant to support checkout operations at its warehouse in Brampton, ON. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy helping members, working in a fast-paced front-end environment and keeping lines moving smoothly.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Cashier Assistant, you will pack member orders, move items to separate carts, retrieve merchandise and help maintain a clean and organized front-end area. You will also assist with cart retrieval from the parking lot, support cashiers during busy periods and provide a high level of member service at all times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet members at the register, help load items onto the conveyor belt and confirm packing preferences.
- Answer questions, share information about promotions and thank members for shopping at Costco.
- Pack member orders into boxes and transfer them onto a separate cart or flatbed, checking packaging for tampering.
- Follow all safety and security procedures and assist members loading orders into their vehicles when needed.
- Run for items such as merchandise, boxes, register supplies and item numbers at the request of cashiers.
- Transfer items from belt to cart or flatbed as cashiers scan them, following department procedures for speed and accuracy.
- Maintain cleanliness of the register area and general front end, cleaning spills and trip hazards immediately.
- Retrieve carts and flatbeds from the parking lot using approved methods and keep the lot area clear of debris.
- Support related tasks such as set-up and closing duties for the front end, including stocking registers and organizing paperwork.
- Operate the mechanical trash compactor/cardboard baler following safety guidelines.
- Provide ongoing support to the cashier during special promotions and peak periods.
- Assist other warehouse areas as needed.
