ABOUT THE JOB
As a Deli Clerk at Safeway, you will play an important role in helping customers find fresh, ready-to-eat meals and quality deli products. You will assist with food preparation, customer service, stocking, and maintaining high standards of safety and cleanliness. Full training is provided for this role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide friendly, professional service to customers at the deli counter.
- Prepare deli products including sandwiches, salads, hot foods, specialty trays and ready-to-eat meals.
- Follow all food safety procedures, sanitation standards and company guidelines.
- Operate deli equipment safely, including slicers, ovens, fryers and scales.
- Maintain clean and well-organized work areas, storage spaces and displays.
- Restock products, rotate inventory and ensure freshness of all deli items.
- Assist with receiving and storing shipments of deli products.
- Provide samples, answer customer questions and offer product suggestions.
- Manage cash register transactions when required.
