ABOUT THE JOB
The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing prescription medications, counseling patients, and practicing to the full extent of the expanded scope of pharmacy practice as permitted by provincial regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Dispenses prescription medications and applies appropriate auxiliary labels.
- Reviews prescriptions for therapeutic appropriateness, drug interactions, contraindications, dosing, frequency, and dosage form.
- Verifies prescriptions and refills with physicians by phone when required.
- Selects therapeutic substitutions when appropriate.
- Maintains patient medical history and confidentiality.
- Educates patients on proper medication usage, side effects, and precautions.
- Provides prompt, courteous, and professional patient care.
- Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to identify and resolve drug therapy problems.
- Administers medications by injection where permitted by provincial regulations.
- Conducts medication reviews and medication reconciliation.
- Documents and communicates interventions as required.
- Ensures compliance with Costco Pharmacy policies, safety standards, and security procedures.
- Acts as Pharmacist-in-Charge in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager when required.
