Costco is hiring a Pharmacy Student in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, this role supports prescription processing, patient service, inventory management, and pharmacy operations while gaining hands-on clinical experience.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Pharmacy Student at Costco, you will assist with daily pharmacy activities, including prescription entry, preparation, and member service, while developing practical skills in a professional and regulated healthcare environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answer and triage member phone calls and direct members to the appropriate location.
- Collect patient information and accurately input prescriptions into the pharmacy software system.
- Fill prescriptions by retrieving stock bottles, counting medications, and labeling under pharmacist supervision.
- Follow all safety, security, and confidentiality procedures while performing duties.
- Alert the pharmacist to potential drug interactions or patient concerns.
- Assist patients at the counter, retrieve prescriptions, and process register transactions.
- Provide prompt and courteous patient service.
- Answer questions related to OTC products and refer clinical questions to the pharmacist when appropriate.
- Support prescription counseling and education under supervision, according to provincial regulations.
- Identify and recruit eligible patients for medication review programs.
- Assist with inventory management of drugs, supplies, and OTC merchandise.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient pharmacy workspace.
- Assist in other pharmacy and warehouse tasks as required under pharmacist direction.
