Costco is hiring an Optical Student in Calgary, AB. This role is ideal for someone studying in the optical field who enjoys helping members choose eyewear, supporting daily optical operations, and delivering friendly, accurate service.
ABOUT THE JOB
As an Optical Student at Costco, you will assist members with selecting eyeglass frames and lens options, support order processing, and help keep the Optical department organized and well-stocked. Under the supervision of a licensed Optician, you may also help with fitting and adjusting eyewear after pickup. You’ll handle basic transactions, maintain department cleanliness, and follow safety and security procedures while providing excellent member service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist members in choosing eyeglass frames and lens options based on their needs and preferences.
- Provide prompt, courteous member service and help answer general optical product questions.
- Ring up orders and optical merchandise and process payments accurately (cash, credit/debit, cheques where applicable).
- Complete paperwork and follow established cash handling and performance procedures.
- Under supervision and where permitted, help fit and adjust eyeglasses after customer order pick-up.
- Use approved tools such as a frame warmer and make minor adjustments carefully.
- Order equipment, merchandise, and supplies by entering requests into the computer system.
- Stock optical merchandise and supplies, supporting merchandising and product storage standards.
- Follow department procedures for production, record keeping, and inventory organization.
- Maintain a clean department by spraying, wiping, and mopping as required.
- Empty trash and operate the trash compactor and cardboard baler when assigned.
- Follow all safety and security procedures within the department and warehouse.
- Assist in other areas of the warehouse as required.
