ABOUT THE JOB
As a Pharmacy Student at Costco, you will assist the pharmacy team with prescription order entry, packaging, and distribution tasks while following all safety, security, and confidentiality standards. Under the supervision of the pharmacist, you may support medication review services, help with health promotion clinics, assist patients at the counter, and provide limited counselling on prescription and over-the-counter products as permitted by provincial guidelines and your competency level.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answer and triage member phone calls and direct inquiries appropriately.
- Collect patient information and enter prescriptions accurately into the pharmacy software system.
- Support prescription filling by retrieving stock bottles, counting medications, and labeling under pharmacist supervision.
- Follow all safety, security, and departmental procedures while handling medications and patient information.
- Alert the pharmacist to potential drug interactions, patient concerns, or issues requiring clinical review.
- Comply with provincial regulations for pharmacy students and maintain strict patient confidentiality.
- Assist patients at the counter by retrieving prescriptions and processing register transactions as required.
- Provide prompt and courteous patient service and escalate clinical questions to the pharmacist when appropriate.
- Communicate with patients about over-the-counter products under pharmacist supervision and within permitted scope.
- Support prescription counselling and education as permitted by regulation and directed by the pharmacist.
- Help identify and recruit eligible patients for medication review services and wellness initiatives.
- Assist with stocking drugs, supplies, and OTC merchandise and maintaining organized inventory areas.
- Support the planning and execution of Costco Pharmacy Health Promotion clinics.
- Help keep the pharmacy clean, tidy, and well organized throughout the shift.
- Assist in other areas of the warehouse as needed and as directed.
